The Last Man
When the world’s richest men go to war, everyone loses.
Freed from prison, Will Smart commits every last dollar of his considerable wealth to destroying Genesis. Along the way, he gains an unlikely ally, with connections in the highest of high places.
Meanwhile, not content with merely controlling the food supply, Genesis expands into new ventures, attracting the attention of big players that had previously remained neutral. Every move is matched by a counter-move in this high-stakes game of corporate espionage. Alliances are formed and betrayed, tables are turned, and everything comes to head with a declaration of war from the most unlikely source imaginable.

Ruthless business decisions to advance regardless of public safety, sustainability or morals. It all rings true, and made an amazing story that kept me captivated right to the end.

Rather than favoring either side of the GMO debate, Mlek’s thriller pits an unethical, profit-seeking GMO corporation against an equally corrupt investor who recruits poor, gullible citizens to cultivate crops that are supposedly more natural and safer.
There’s a lot of ruthlessness, competitiveness and harshness, and it’s a novel showcasing evil in all its forms – humanity’s evil, from its corruptness to its willingness to put aside morals and dignity just to achieve their goals. It is hard to find a character woth having sympathy for, but despite most of the characters having a wicked streak, they still come across as very… human. Raw, harsh, evil, but still human.

Kata Mlek writes such dark stories, and I love it! If you want to check out one of my favorite books this year, you should read Absolute Sunset by her. In a way this one is even more disturbing because it closely mimics what is going on in our world right now.

If you enjoy well written novels – or know someone who does – you should seriously consider this book as an excellent choice.
Greed, Deception,Lies, Murder, Power, Control, Sex…This book has it all and then some. Kata has hit the mark with this thriller set in the corporate world.
Trust me readers you are in for one great book. It has everything I like in a story, great plot, dialogue and diverse characters.
